Kris Litz (she/her)
Welcome! As someone passionate about social relationships and critical thinking, I am thrilled to be a first-year social studies teacher at Big Sky High School. I have spent most of my professional life as an educator. I started in outdoor education, where I led high school students on service-learning expeditions in the wild places of MT and the Pacific Northwest. It was during this time that I discovered my enthusiasm for place-based education. Thus, while working in the special education department of an Oregon high school, I earned my first M.A in Adventure Education. After moving home to Missoula, I worked in a small, local school as an elementary classroom teacher and administrator.
I completed my Master's of Education from the University of Montana in Spring, 2023. As a graduate of Big Sky myself, I am thrilled to once again be an Eagle! This year, I will be teaching Modern World History and U.S. Government. Outside of the classroom, you can usually find me exploring our local rivers and mountains with my husband, Robin, and our daughter, Avani.
Open communication is very important to me, and I am always receptive to your questions, concerns, and conversations. Email or in-person is the best way to contact me, though you may also call anytime. I will respond as promptly as possible between the hours of 8:00am – 4:00pm Monday-Friday.
