Mr. Zach Murphy

This will be my first year teaching at Big Sky and I cannot wait to work with all of you!

As a Montana local, I'm so excited to begin my teaching career in the town I've called home for over 20 years. After high school here in town I ventured over to Bozeman where I completed my Bachelors of Science in Health and Human Development with a speciality in exercise science and cell biology and neuroscience. After graduation I spent a gap year here in Missoula where I discovered my passion for working with students at the high school level. Through the University of Montana I was thankfully able to join my passions for science and working with students and bring them together. Over the past several years I've worked towards my Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction and my licensure in Broadfield Science Teaching. This year I will be working with primarily freshman in the Principles of Biomedical Sciences within our Biomed tract and Health Sciences Academy. Aside from this, I will be teaching two periods of general science Integrated 1. It is my hope and goal to help my students find a passion in one of the many fields of Science and help them grow as individuals.

Outside of the classroom you can often find me running with my dog Nala (picture in the photo) on the trails around Missoula, looking for any opportunity to find water in the form of a local river or nearby lake, or following one of my many sports teams. Aside from teaching I will be coaching Boys Basketball here at Big Sky and can't wait to help the program for years to come.
