Sociology/Criminology

  • Sociology/Criminology at Big Sky High School is a very fun and exciting elective class in the Social Studies Department. We combine the best of both worlds in delving into the world of sociology which is the study of groups in our society and there many differences and similarities. We then meld this into the Criminology aspect by developing units that take aspects of both subjects into account.

One of the great aspects of this class is our use of guest speakers to expose the student to many aspects and job opportunities in the field of criminal justice. We have guest speakers from:
    • Missoula Police Department
    • Missoula County Sheriffs Department
    • Juvenile Justice
    • FBI
    • Justice of the Peace
    • Missoula Crime Lab
    • Coroners Office
    • County Attorneys
    • Joint Task Force

These people and possibly others help make the class one of the more popular in the school and one that helps prepare a student for their future endeavors and possibly helps them in some career choices
