Class Expectations
-
Government and Sociology/Criminology
Classes will be participation oriented in nature with lectures, class discussion, group work, note-taking, testing and other daily assignments. Participation is a main component of class but each student is expected to behave properly during class and avoid classroom disruptions. If you have a question or comment please raise your hand and wait to be called upon. Please do not shout your questions or answers before being called on. Remember to be respectful to everyone in class at all times.
Homework and class assignments
There will be daily assignments and other classroom grades which will include keeping a notebook. School is not a spectator sport and it is expected to keep involved in class. If a student is absent , he or she should get the previous assignment so that they will not fall behind. ( Refer to the Student Handbook)
Quizzes
Quizzes will be given throughout the chapter to monitor student progress. If a student misses a quiz he or she needs to make arrangements to take the quiz on their own time. Quizzes must be made up in 3 days or points will be deducted.
Tests
Tests are generally given at different points of the quarter. Tests are worth various point totals and are a major part of the students grade. Keeping quality notes will help a student prepare and be successful on the test.
Extra Credit Possibilities
There may be several different possibilities for extra credit throughout the semester that will include extra questions on a test or extra assignments and by being tardy 2 or less times in a quarter.
Absences/Make-up
When a student is absent I will go by the student handbook in terms of make-up. If a student does not make up the items in a timely fashion a reduction of the grade will occur.
