• Assessment

This class will be assessed using standards/competency-based grading. That means for each standard, students will be scored based on the highest learning target you achieve. You will take the highest score you demonstrate in each category.

70% of the grade will be based on SUMMATIVE assessments: final products that demonstrate the learned skill at the end of a unit. 30% of the grade will be based on FORMATIVE assessments: ongoing tasks (including homework, writing exercises, and classwork) that measure progress in reaching a target skill level for an objective.

Most formative assessments may be re-submitted to show improvement (until the summative assessment). Summative scores may be re-assessed on an individual basis; per the HSA policy, you must have completed all the formative work in the unit with a score of at least “approaching standard.” See the HSA handbook for more.

You will also be graded on citizenship in this class (as well as all of your HSA classes). The citizenship skill for this class is working with adults. This means asking for extra help when you need it as well as using appropriate, professional skills to interact with your teachers.
