All students with previous instrumental training are welcome to play - there is a place for everyone!Intermediate Band (Concert Band) - Is made up of students who are entering high school and who have had three to four years of band experience. Students learn and practice the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to perform and a high level.
Advanced Band (Symphonic Band) - Is made up of Juniors, Sophomores and Advanced Placement Freshmen. Students refine and practice the skills, knowledge, and attitudes needed to perform and a higher level.Wind Ensemble - Is the most Advanced Placement band. Students must demonstrate high levels of musicianship and dedication.Percussion Ensemble - (grades 9-12) Explore and develop all areas and styles of percussion music, including marching, drum line, concert and percussion ensemble.Jazz Band 1 - Is an Auditioned performance group that studies jazz styles, improvisation, theory, history, and composition. Students in this ensemble are required to be in a Big Sky band or orchestra.Jazz Band 2 - Is a Zero Period performance class for newer jazz students that introduces jazz styles, improvisation, theory, history, and composition. Students in this ensemble are required to be in a Big Sky band or orchestra.
Marching Band - This combined group is made up of Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Percussion Ensemble members. We rehearse individually during our class periods and then hit the field as a group before every show and parade.Extra-Curricular Pep Band - This group represents the fun side of the musical craziness! We perform at both girls and boys basketball games.Music Technology - In this class, students compose, arrange, produce, and develop music theory skills through the use of computer based music technology. Students will be assessed through oral and written assignments and exams, reports, and song projects. One semester.
