Welcome to AP Statistics!
The purpose of the Advanced Placement course in statistics is to introduce students to the major concepts and tools for collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students are exposed to four broad conceptual themes: Exploring Data: Describing patterns and departures from patterns; Sampling and Experimentation: Planning and conducting a study; Anticipating Patterns: Exploring random phenomena using probability and simulation; and Statistical Inference: Estimating population parameters and testing hypotheses.
In addition to regular problem sets and readings, in each semester students are expected to design, implement, and report out the results of their own studies. Students who successfully complete the course and pass the AP exam at the end of the course may receive credit for a one-semester introductory college statistics course.
We'll be using the Skew the Script AP Statistics Curriculum along with our textbook: The Practice of Statistics, 4th Edition. All communication and class content will be on Google Classroom. Please email me if you need the class code or would like parent access.
