My name is Beth Cole and this is my fifteenth year teaching.  I teach the technology classes including the IB Film, Graphic Design, Intro to Photography, Digital Media, Technology Tools and Digital Film.  Prior to my time at Hellgate, I was a corporate advertising executive at Foote, Cone & Belding in Los Angeles on the Mazda Motor of America account.

I hope to teach students the basics of the computer programs and the elements of design, but also the skills they will need to know to be successful in the world of work.

    Graphic Design

We're learning the first of the three programs we'll use for this class, Photoshop. Once students feel comfortable with the program, they will create an composite poster to introduce themselves to the instructor and the rest of the class.

Students have created personal websites and have posted the best examples of their photography so far. They are also taking selfies they will post on their homepage. Students will begin learning Lightroom and will complete a series of exercises through the week.

Students are learning narrative structure. We are watching The Wizard of Oz to begin learning basic film language.

    2019-2020 class rules

I'm so excited for the beginning of another school year! We're going to start off the year with an introduction to class rules and an overview of the class you'll be taking. Students will be expected to review the rules with parents/guardians and return a signed acknowledgement to me in class. Both students and their parent/guardian are expected to sign the acknowledgement which will be due by Friday, September 6. This is a graded activity so rules submitted after the due date will be considered late. A separate camera check out form will be send home for signature in Photography and Film.
