I’m a Canadian “resident alien” but I can assure you that I admire my adopted home and I’m passionate about instilling in students a greater appreciation for their country through my teaching of U.S. History and U.S. Government.

I received my B.A. in Political Science, History and Theatre from the University of Alberta in Canada.  I’ve also completed graduate coursework at Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas and earned an M.S. in Gifted Education from the Teacher’s College at Emporia State University in Kansas.

I’ve taught drama and gifted education in both Kansas and Oklahoma, before acting as the Gifted Education Coordinator in MCPS middle schools for 5 years.  I have now been in the Social Studies department at HHS for 20 years and have taught all variations of regular and AP classes in U.S.History and Government.

As a strong supporter of community service, I’m proud to serve as the Advisor for Key Club as well.  As a Canadian, I'm even prouder to help bring the sport of curling to young people in Missoula as a Board Member of the Missoula Curling Club and Advisor for the Hellgate Curling Club.

I am married, have 3 children, 3 step-children, and many grandchildren, and spend most of my free time traveling to be with my family or just to see the world.  I also love hiking and just being in the great outdoors in Montana, whether that's from my back deck or in the National Parks.
