Foundations of Personal Finance

Students learn how to make informed decisions related to managing finances: budgeting, saving, investing, living independently, earning and reporting income, buying goods and services, using credit banking, and protecting against fraud. This course generates language to develop personal financial independence so students understand the relevance of being financially fit.

Introduction to Photography

Introduction to Photography exposes students to the tools, materials, and processes involved with photography and printing. Students explore photographic theory, technical issues, applications, practice, and history. Additional topics may include use of camera, composition and computer-aided printing.

Create films using Adobe Premiere Pro, the industry standard in editing. Watch and evaluate movies. Film II studies advanced topics.

Accounting I

An introduction of fundamental accounting concepts, skills, and competencies in order to make informed business decisions. This course develops knowledge of the accounting cycle, and prepares students to be educated business professionals and informed consumers.
Accounting II

Available to grades 11, 12
This course continues the development of the basic accounting concepts to perform advanced accounting procedures. Emphasis is placed on corporate accounting, and departmentalized accounting is used in all applications. Job shadow experiences will round out this course.
Accounting III

Available to grades 11, 12
Emphasis will be placed on corporate, managerial, and cost accounting. Departmentalized accounting is reinforced, manufacturing cost accounting is introduced, and partnerships and not-for-profit business system accounting are explored. An internship with a local accounting firm or business will enhance this course experience.
Banking

This course is an introduction to the business of banking and its employment opportunities. Concepts about banking operations, the Federal Reserve, customer services, day-to-day bank activities, and other relevant topics are presented to provide an understanding of how banks function within society. Comprehension will be extended and reinforced through both job shadow and internship opportunities.
Advanced Finance

Prerequisites: Accounting II
Available to grades 11, 12
In this course, students will discover ways to maximize their earning potential, develop strategies for managing financial resources, and gain insight into the different ways of investing and protecting money and property. More advanced financial skills and understanding will be generated during the Stock Market Game experience and while creating an investment portfolio. This capstone experience will offer an internship with a local investment firm or an independent financial consultant.
