Hellgate Student Government wants YOU to think about running for office. Election packets are available to pick up in Britt Hanford's office in the counseling center. You need a packet if you plan to run - that's where you'll find the application. In the meantime, here's some information...

    Student Government officers are public servants of the student body of Hellgate High School and will act as representatives of and advocates for all students. Officers are responsible for participation in the Student Government class, they plan and execute events, initiatives, and community service, and they serve as a link between students and administration. Student Government officials will place the student body of Hellgate High School before themselves and commit to being available, honest, and committed to the duties for which they are elected.

    Students will run for one of the following (10) positions:

    • Student Body President and Vice President

    • Student Body Secretary

    • Student Body Treasurer  

    • Senior Class President and Vice President

    • Junior Class President and Vice President

    • Sophomore Class President and Vice President

    Election Timeline

    • March 29, 2023 - Elections packets distributed

    • April 12, 2023 - Applications due to Student Government advisor (Britt Hanford) by 4:00pm

    • April 26, 2023 - Posters and videos due to Student Government advisor by 4:00pm

    • May 1, 2023 - Videos released on Hellgate Happenings, election week begins

    • May 8, 2023 - Election results announced

    Election outcomes are based on 

    • Votes from students (approximately 60%)

    • Completed application (approximately 10%)

    • Interview with Student Government advisor & administrator (approximately 10%)

    • Scores from Teacher Evaluation (approximately 10%)

    Campaigns are limited to 

    • 10 8.5” x 11” posters (or the equivalent square footage) 

    • 1 60-second campaign video

    • No social media campaigning

    • No food or “swag” campaigning
