Meet Your Coaching Staff

  • Head Coach: Jay Anderson

2023 will be Jay's 21st year as the head coach at Hellgate and 23rd season overall with the school. He has an overall coaching record of 218 wins, 59 losses and 36 ties. He has coached the Knights to the state tournament 15 times, has reached the state final 11 times, winning in 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2017, 2016, 2015 and 2011. He has been very pleased to coach so many great players over the years with so many different talents and personalities. Jay is very proud of the fact that so many ex-players still come by to say "hi" to him and to wish the team good luck.  Even more importantly, he is very thankful to all the players who have come back over the years to give back and help coach at Hellgate.  All of the current coaches are Hellgate alumni.

In the spring, Jay works with the Missoula Strikers Soccer Club.  He is the current 04' Girls Premier team coach and recruiting coordinator for the club.  Before that, he spent several years as the Goalkeeper Director for the club and was the coach of the 05' Girls Premier team for two seasons.  Before that, he spent three years as the club's Academy Director.

When not coaching, Jay keeps busy with his job as a sixth grade teacher at Washington Middle School and with his family. He has been very blessed to have a wonderful wife who supports his coaching and the team.  He has a daughter who currently plays for the Hellgate women's team and a son who plays college soccer in Colorado, so keeps busy trying to support them as often as possible.
