Ms. Bixler
Hi everyone! My name is Kristy Bixler and this is my third year teaching at Sentinel High School. Before that, I worked as a substitute teacher in the Missoula County Public School District for two years, and I am so excited to be working with Sophomore and Junior English students this year! I graduated from Sentinel myself, and then went to the University of Montana where I received my Bachelor's degree in English Education and Literature, and this past spring, I received a Masters in Education with a focus on Library Sciences. I look forward to bringing these skills into our classroom this year. I have always loved English, and was inspired by my own teachers at Sentinel to pursue this career path. It is one of my passions to encourage students to realize how much fun reading and writing can be, and to help students to hone their own writing and critical thinking skills through a variety of activities and different texts we will read throughout the year.
This year I am also going to be the Assistant Speech and Debate Coach for Sentinel. I am excited to work with this outstanding team and see where the season will take us. If anyone is interested in learning more about Speech and Debate, don't hesitate to ask!
When I am not in school, I like to take advantage of the many opportunities we have in Montana. During the winter you can often find me skiing at Discovery or Lost Trail, and in the summer I like to be either on a river or a lake! I also enjoy reading good books and spending time with my friends and family as much as I can. I am looking forward to getting to know all of you throughout this school year.
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions, concerns, or just want to say hi!
