National Honor Society (NHS) is an organization for seniors who exemplify the characteristics of scholarship, leadership, character and service. A minimum 3.5 GPA is required before students are invited to apply during the spring of their junior year. Applicants document their honors classes, school and community activities, leadership positions, accomplishments and awards.

All Sentinel staff members receive a list of nominees and evaluate the students’ characters in the areas of attitude, integrity and effort. This evaluation, together with the application and GPA, determines whether or not the students have earned membership into the organization. At Sentinel, projects include activities such as the Peer-Tutoring Program and sponsoring needy families to help make their holidays brighter by providing food and gifts.  For more information, contact either Katie Moser at kcmoser@mcpsmt.org
