Welcome Students (and Parents),
This is my ninth year teaching English in the classroom and my seventeenth year in education. I taught English Language Arts for five years in Anchorage, Alaska, and then switched to part-time work to be able to spend my days with my young children. During those years, I mentored new teachers and privately tutored middle and high school students in English and ACT preparation. After moving to Missoula in 2011, I served Lewis & Clark Elementary families and students for three years as both the Families in Transition Coordinator and the director of the Family Resource Center. The former position focused on helping families through tough times while the latter position focused on providing enrichment opportunities for students, including the popular EAST after-school program. My true joy is being in the classroom, however, and I am thrilled to be embarking on my fourth year at Sentinel High School! Go Spartans!
I am very excited to get to know you this year! As for me, in my free time, I enjoy rafting, mountain biking, hiking, skiing, reading, and doing puzzles with my husband and children. I have one son (4th grade), one daughter (7th grade), two dogs, one cat, and a guinea pig. I often teach through story, so you will learn more about me as the year progresses.
Google Classroom is the tool I use to post the weekly schedule, announcements, assignments, and resources. Parents, please have your student show you this page or email me to let me know you would like to have your own access. I would love to provide that to you. It is a great proactive approach to supporting your student. Additionally, please see Q Student and Parent Portal for previously graded and recorded assignments. Also, I have attached the course syllabi here on this page (scroll down).
All the best,
