Jeffrey Avgeris - Vice Chair

  • Photo of Trustee Avgeris wearing a blue button up shirt Jeffrey Avgeris was elected to the Board of Trustees in May 2020.  He has owned a Marketing firm in Missoula since 2018. A 17 year veteran in the Newspaper and Digital Marketing space, Jeff's passion is helping businesses grow. Avgeris grew up in southern Oregon and attended Oregon Institute of Technology, receiving a degree in Business and Marketing. Jeff is an avid Fly Fisherman and Hunter. Lisa Davey

  • Lisa Davey wearing a blue shirt and colorful earringsLisa Davey is an MCPS and UM graduate and a life-long Missoulian. Her first experience with policy and systems change was serving on an MCPS school board committee when she was thirteen and she is excited to circle back. This passion for speaking up turned into grassroots lobbying, political work, and organizing around disability rights and affordable healthcare after the birth of her oldest child in the 5th month of her pregnancy. After working as an organizer for the MT AFL-CIO, she is excited to be the Lead Organizer and CEO of Common Good Missoula. Lisa believes deeply in the importance of understanding lived experience as expert experience and is committed to robust public engagement and a healthy local democracy. 

     
    Lisa lives on a small hobby farm in Clinton with her family. In her spare time, she can be found white water rafting, playing her flute, or throwing pots at the Clay Studio. Her oldest child is a recent graduate of MCPS and currently attends UM. Her middle son is currently a high school student at MCPS and her daughter is in 7th grade at Sunset Elementary and will feed into MCPS. Davey can be reached via email ldavey@mcpsmt.org.

Kate Gammill

  • Photo of Kate Gammill from the shoulders up wearing a scarf and round earrings.Kate Gammill brings extensive experience in education to her role on the Missoula County Public Schools Board of Trustees, representing Election District "C" for the Hellgate Elementary boundary. She has experience implementing and executing the Science of Reading and currently develops online professional learning content for Montana’s teachers. As a former K-8 teacher, she is passionate about education and Montana's greatest asset, it's youth. She is committed to supporting teachers, administrators, and families through collaboration and is dedicated to ensuring her district has strong representation and a voice at the table. Christina "Tina" Hayes

    Tina grew up in Great Falls.  She earned a BA in Human Biological Sciences and a BS in Business Administration at the University of Montana. Then she attended Montana State University- Billings and earned her Master’s degree in Health Administration.  Tina has a passion for teaching compassion through presenting on the impacts of stress and trauma on the developing brain.  She is fortunate to work at the Montana Safe School Center as the Training and Technical Assistance Specialist. She loves biking and traveling.  Tina lives in Missoula with her new husband, two boys and two fur-babies (her daughter lives in Bozeman and bonus daughter lives in Helena).  She may be reached via email chayes@mcpsmt.org.

Koan Mercer

  • Head shot of Trustee Mercer wearing glasses and button up shirt Koan Mercer was elected to the Board of Trustees in May 2020.  Mercer graduated from Whitefish High School in 1995 before attending Whitman College, where he met his spouse. After working two years in Washington, D.C. he earned a law degree from the University of North Carolina in 2004. Since then he has been a public defender in Missoula, practicing first as trial attorney and for the past twelve years as an appellate attorney before the Montana Supreme Court. Both Mercer's parents graduated from Missoula County High School and then UM. His spouse teaches at the Skaggs School of Pharmacy. His son attends Lowell, where his great-grandfather once went to school. Mercer can be reached via email kmercer@mcpsmt.org. 

Wilena Old Person - Board Chair

  • Photo of Wilena Old Person wearing an a black shirt Wilena Old Person (Yakama/Blackfeet) was elected to the Board of Trustees in May 2019.  She is a graduate of the University of Montana and is the Program Coordinator for the Health Careers Opportunity Program (HCOP) in the College of Health Professions and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Montana.  Wilena and her husband, Jason Plain Feather, have four boys; three attending Russell Elementary and one at Sentinel High School.  She may be reached via email woldperson@mcpsmt.org.

Arlene Walker-Andrews - Vice Chair High School

  • Headshot of Arlene Walker-Andrews wearing a white shirt.Arlene Walker-Andrews was appointed to the Board of Trustees in September 2021. Arlene is a retired administrator (Associate Provost) from the University of Montana. She obtained her doctorate in Experimental Psychology (Development) from Cornell University in 1981 and taught at Rutgers University for 22 years before moving to Missoula. Her hobbies include hiking, golf, and reading. She and her husband David Andrews live in the Target Range School District.  She can be reached at awalker-andrews@mcpsmt.org.

Jenny Walsh

She holds a Masters Degree in Special Education from the University of Montana, with experience in early intervention, family support, and educational consulting. Jenny and her husband Owen have three kids in Missoula County Public Schools. Meg Whicher

She comes with 20 years of experience working with youth and families in recreation and out-of-school programs. Keegan Witt

Keegan graduated from Sidney High School in 2003 and the University of Montana in 2008 with degrees in accounting and finance. After graduation, he earned his CPA license and started his career in public accounting as an auditor. He is a single father of two boys who attend Missoula County Public Schools.
