Librarianship is my foremost passion. I love finding that "just right" book for my students and empowering them to take control of their education through research skills and instilling a love for learning. I hold an M.A.T. in Elementary Education, and endorsements in Library Science, Psychology, and Dance Education. I am in my 13th year here at Washington Middle School, my 19th year as school librarian, and my 25th year in the library profession. I worked for 6 years at the University of Montana's Mansfield Library in Bibliographic Management Services. I serve as representative to the American Library Association on the Montana Library Association Board, the American Association of School Librarians National Chapter Delegate for the state of Montana, and as school library liaison to the Montana Shared Cataloging and Acquisitions committee for the Montana Library. This year I'm also working in the afternoons at Porter Middle School teaching CTE to 8th graders and Media Arts to 6th graders.
In my spare time you can find me reading, cross-stitching, and running. During the school year, I teach Oula Dance and Oula. One (both created here in MissOULA), SHiNE, and UPLIFT at the University of Montana. I also enjoy traveling with my family. We particularly enjoy visiting other countries. We have visited Mexico, Canada, Germany, Italy, Croatia, Bosnia, Slovenia, China, Japan, Greece, Istanbul and, most recently, France. My husband and I have a son who attended WMS with me for 3 years, two dogs and a cat.
