Special Education and related services are provided to identified students as determined by the Individualized Education Program (IEP) Team. Missoula County Public Schools provides a variety of options (continuum of services) to meet individual student needs.
Resource Services (K-12):
Available in all schools, for students with disabilities who benefit from general educational curriculum supported by specialized instruction in specific academic areas identified through the IEP process.
Extended Resource Services (K-5):
At designated schools in the District. Designed for students whose needs may include replacement academic curriculum, small group or individual instruction throughout the day, functional skills curriculum, intensive adult support and/or supervision in a structured learning environment. Students are included and supported in general education settings as appropriate based on the goals and objectives of their Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Life Skills (6-12):
At designated schools in the District. Designed for students whose needs may include replacement academic curriculum, consistent small group or individual instruction, functional and vocational skills curriculum, intensive adult support and/or supervision in a structured learning environment. Students are included and supported in general education settings as appropriate based on the goals and objectives of their Individualized Education Program (IEP).
Structured Learning Program (K-12):
At designated schools in the District. Services are designed for students with intensive social/emotional/behavioral needs who require a consistent structured setting. Emphasis on building and supporting social/emotional, behavioral, and academic skills. Students are included and supported in general education settings as appropriate based on the goals and objectives of their Individualized Education Program.
Regional Deaf Educational Services (Pre-12):
At designated schools in the District. Services are designated for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing who need language and communication skills and/or sign language interpreter support, and functional skills curriculum. Students are included and supported in general education settings as appropriate based on the goals and objectives of their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
