    Become an Applied Learning Professional

Thank you for your interest in becoming an applied learning professional with Missoula County Public Schools. Our District is proud to foster a strong partnership between our employees and the families, community members and students who dedicate their time and knowledge to enhancing educational services in MCPS.  Applied learning professionals provide MCPS students with opportunities for "real life" learning experiences and allow students to explore professions through opportunities created from job shadowing, internships, etc.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer/applied learning professional and have not previously registered as a volunteer with MCPS, you must complete the comprehensive Applied Learning Professional application.  Information collected, allows MCPS to match professionals with students seeking an applied learning experience.
All applied learning professionals and volunteers in Missoula County Public Schools are asked to complete a Background Check before working directly with students.  A $6.00 fee payable to MCPS is required to complete the background check.  Checks maybe brought into or mailed to:  MCPS, 215 South 6th Street West, Missoula, MT  59801.

  • How are Applied Learning Professionals matched with MCPS students?
Once an Applied Learning Professional has been accepted, their information becomes part of a searchable database.  Students search for an Applied Learning Professional based on their interests in professions and skill sets.  The Applied Learning Professional's identity remains anonymous and students email selected Applied Learning Professionals as part of the initial contact.  Depending upon availability, Applied Learning Professionals may choose to respond to the email and supply further information to the student for further contact.
