Support for Students on an Individualized Education (IEP) or 504 Plan

  • Special education services, including therapies, will be available to students in person under Phase 1 and Phase 2 reopening plans.  Students will receive their services in person on the days they attend school. If we find ourselves in Phase 0, which is full remote learning, we will need to adjust how services look and how they are provided to students.

Our Special Education Team is better prepared to adjust services and allow for remote participation than we found ourselves last spring.  Many staff have been working throughout the summer to consider how to approach the coming school year with safety of students, families and colleagues at the center of any plans.

Staff will be working to support the needs of your students.  We may have to approach IEP’s and 504’s with a slightly different lens, but we will do this as a team with parents and students.  Staff may request a meeting early in the fall to work with you to develop a plan for approaching learning in a way that supports services identified in your student’s IEP or 504 plan.  We may meet to amend your student’s IEP or 504 plan.  Either way staff will work alongside you to help support your student’s education.

If you as a family choose 100% remote learning for the first semester, your IEP team will convene to plan for what services may look like as soon as possible. Staff return in mid-August, so these meetings will occur after August 15th. We are so looking forward to working with students and families - we have missed you all!

If you have specific questions please reach out to your child’s case manager, building principal or feel free to connect with one of our leaders on the Special Education Team.  We will do our best to help you.
