Hello! My name is Monica Thompson and I’m very excited to be teaching art at Rattlesnake (and just one school!) this year. I’ve been teaching art since 2008, and have taught in elementary, middle, and high school in that time. I’ve been teaching elementary art in three schools for the past several years, and I’ve found myself to be so happy here due to the sheer joyful nature of young children’s artwork. Watching kids take an idea from inception to finished product is a magical event, and I’m so glad to be apart of it!
I grew up outside Chicago, studied Art at the University of Michigan, and after spending several summers climbing mountains and baking pies on the east side of Glacier Park, got my Masters in Education here in Missoula. Nowadays, I love going on bike rides with and without my children (Howie and June, who are 7 and 5), trail running with friends, laughing with my husband, and working on my own textile artwork.
Thanks so much for checking out this website, and I look forward to working with your kids this year!
