    Hello Families,

I hope you all had a great break. I enjoyed being here and the few days of sunshine that restored my energy and mood. I really enjoyed speaking with you for your child's conference. Here are a few notes:

    • We will doing a classroom Super Star twice a week until the last week of school. Your child was sent home with a flyer today that gives their special date as well as a couple of things to return. I have also attached the letter to this email. You are welcome to send their stuff earlier but they will not share until their scheduled day.
    • I was asked to forward this information to you all:The Jumpstart program is a FREE 6-week summer program offered by MCPS. It provides early literacy interventions for children who score below proficient in one of the early literacy skills as identified through a screening process. You’ll find more details and registration information here.

The Jumpstart summer program is for:

    • Students who will be entering kindergarten in Fall 2024. (Children who will be 5 years old on or before September 10, 2024, may participate in screening.) Must live within elementary school boundaries.

    • MCPS students entering grades 1-3 in Fall 2024. (Students must be enrolled with MCPS.)

    • In a couple of weeks we will be having a visiting artist come and do a special project with first grade. It sounds like it will be messy. Please send your child with an old shirt to throw over their clothes.

Thanks and have a great weekend.

Here are a few reminders/things to know:

    • No school for students on Monday.
    • Valentine's Day- lists were sent home last Friday. I told them to put names and numbers on valentines to help with ease of passing out. (Please let me know if your child needs valentines and I will help them out on Tuesday.) We will be making bags so no need to send your child with a box. We will be having a small celebration with just our class that afternoon.
    • PE- next week is PE. Make sure your child has a back up pair of shoes to wear during these wet/muddy days. Also, send your child with a water bottle.

  • Conference Week

Posted by Amy Petrini on 11/8/2023
Here are a few things to know for conferences:
    • Please be on time. I have a very tight schedule and will have to keep to it.
    • This conference is for the adults only. Your child will wait outside of my classroom if they need to come with. This will allow for uninterrupted time for us to discuss their progress.
    • Book Fair- the book fair is happening in the library if you would like to check it out before or after their conference.
     Thanks and see you soon!

    • Halloween- send your child with their costume on Tuesday.  We will have a small celebration at the end of the day, and they'll change into their costume at that time. Hello Families,

Here are a few reminders/important info:

    • Birthdays- we will celebrate with your child's favorite book. You may also choose to buy a copy of the book, sign and date, and donate for their special day. I will also give them a birthday bracelet. We will not celebrate with treats. Thanks!
    • Trips- you will need to fill out paperwork for your child if they will miss more than 3 days of school. I appreciate knowing either way, even if you are picking up your child early for just the day.
    • Short week- we will only have school M-W next week.

Thanks and have a great weekend.

    Hello Families:

Here are a few quick notes:
    • This week we had a lesson in our school garden with a couple of farmers from Garden City Harvest/PEAS Farm. They made vegetable "rainbow" soup for us. Your child has a copy of the recipe in their folder today.
    • Book orders were sent home today.  Please order by next Friday if you are interested. It is easiest to order online, but you are welcome to send a check with your child if that is easier for you.
    • Next week is PE. Our soccer field has been very muddy. If possible, make sure that your child has a back up pair of shoes to wear just for PE.
    • Water bottles get sent home every Friday. Make sure that it is cleaned and ready to bring back on Monday.
    • This month we are focusing on RESPONSIBILITY. Please see attached letter about ways you can extend this trait into your home lives.

Thanks and have a great weekend.
