Posted by Amy Petrini on 9/15/2023

    Hello Familes,

Here are a couple of quick reminders/corrections:

    •  Next week is PE. Please send your child with appropriate shoes and a water bottle.
    • PEAS Farm is on Wednesday at 1:15.
    • Birthdays- invites can only be sent home if the whole class is invited. Our school policy also includes no treats- due to allergies and loss of instructional time. Your child may bring a special book to read and/or donate to our class library to celebrate their special day.

    Dear Families,

Hello! I am really enjoying getting to know all of your kids. I think that we have a super class.  I am so excited for the rest of the year to see how much they grow and learn.
    Here are a few reminders/quicknotes:

    • Next week is PE. Please make sure that your child either wears or brings a pair of tennis shoes. Also, make sure that you send their water bottle. I keep them here through the week and then send them home on Fridays to get cleaned.
    • Green folders went home today. I like them back on Mondays and send them home on Fridays.  Please clear them out of your child's backpack and empty out the contents over the weekend.
    • For the month of September our school is focusing on the trait Be Kind:Respect. I'm attaching a letter from our Character Strong program that promotes discussion and reinforcement from home.
--Thanks and have a great weekend.Respect

    Dear Families of First Graders,

Hello! I am so excited to have your child in my classroom this year.

I look forward to getting to know you and your child.  Our first week we will work on building community, reviewing school rules and procedures as well as setting expectations in our classroom for an ideal learning setting.  On Wednesday I will be sending home a few forms needed by myself and the school.  Please complete and return as soon as you are able to.

I hope you’ll be able to come by and say a quick hello on Tuesday night, during Back to School Night from 5:00-6:00.  Please use this time to find your child’s cubby and place their supplies in their designated areas around my room.  I will attach my supply list at the end of this letter. There are some mistakes that were listed for our grade level but my class website is updated and includes items needed.  I will have extra supplies for the first days of school so no worries if you don’t have everything right now.

Please see my staff page on our school website for updated information and more about me.

Here are a few highlights from my summer:

I ran into a former student and his brother when I visited Santa Barbara.  He was in one of my very first classes and is now 27!

Collecting beach glass is one of my favorite things to do when visiting the ocean.

I spent lots of time on the river, roller skating, puzzling, hiking, and visiting and catching up with friends and family.

***My daughter just pointed out that I don’t have a group shot of my family that includes all of us from this summer. I’ll add an updated pic of my family to my webpage later. (My oldest just got his wisdom teeth out on Friday and is still quite swollen so it will be a few days or more).

  • Class Book and Library Fines

Posted by Amy Petrini on 6/1/2023

    Hello Families,

Our class has been hard at work on creating a story for publication.  Our book is about a first grade rattlesnake who wants to lose her tooth. (Please ask your child for more details.) Each child has at least 3 contributions with words and artwork in our book.  Unfortunately, I am quite late with getting it to the company for publication. It should be ready about mid June. In the past I have given it to students at the beginning of second grade or before school let out. This year I was thinking that I could drop it off at your house if you would like to receive it before then.  I will be sending home order forms and envelopes with your child today. Please fill out the form and send it back to me ASAP but no later than Monday. I need the form back even if you do NOT want to buy one.  Please also  let me know if you would like to sponsor a book for a child in our class so that everyone can have their own copy. I assure you that they love getting their own book. This will be my 4th year in a row doing it.

I also sent home past due notices for the library. Please return and/or pay for your child's book before school lets out.

    Rattlesnake Elementary School Families,

We have an exciting fundraiser in store for students to help bring much-needed funds to our school!

    Our Fundraiser at a Glance:

    1. Kickoff Event. Students will learn what to expect from the fun days ahead and how the fundraiser will work.

    2. Character-Building Videos. Our school will follow along with a character-building program called Grand Land Adventure. Students will learn about five different U.S. National Parks while building character and raising funds to hit our fundraising goal.

Throughout the week, our class will earn fun rewards based on how much we raise on our classroom donation tracker. When our class earns a reward that adds some extra awesomeness to our day, I will be sure to let you know!
