    Dear Rattlesnake parents and guardians,

Please follow the link below to the MCPS Infinite Campus Parent Portal to update your students annual permission forms. These forms will need to be completed ASAP as the district will disable your students use of their online accounts on October 11th if we do not have your permission to continue computer use on file.

    Having trouble? Follow these instructions:
After following the above link, select "Campus Parent"
Because this is a brand new system you probably don't have an account.  Please click on "New User"
You will be prompted for an Activation Key. Please email eberryman@mcpsmt.org and we will get back with you asap with your activation key.  Do not call the office! Each parent has their own activation key that we need to distribute and will do so via email. Thank you for your understanding.

  • 2S Update 9.16.21

Posted by Char Sayler on 9/17/2021 9:15:00 AM
    Greetings, 2nd Grade Families, πŸ˜Š
We are starting to pick up speed academically as our routines become more automatic. πŸ“
Here's the latest from our classroom:
    • We wrapped up our study of addition strategies and we'll dive into subtraction strategies next week. Have your child show you different addition strategies at home. πŸ”’
    • In Writers' Workshop, we are learning to read like writers and find inspiration from the books we read. Author Cynthia Rylant (author of the Henry and Mudge series) will be teaching us wonderful strategies for our own writing including the following: repeated lines and word patterns; detailed imagery and lists of examples; transition words like "suddenly" to grab our readers' attention. We are becoming a wonderful community of writers!  πŸ“
    • We focused on long vowels for two weeks. Next week, we'll dive into consonant blends. πŸ“˜
    • We are learning to identify the characters and setting in a story and we're learning to describe how a character responds to a change or challenge.
    • Tuesday is library book check out day.
    • Homework comes home the first day of the week (Reading log & iReady log), and is due on the last day of the week. Your child can just let me know if they need to turn it in late. Please try to do 100 minutes of reading a week, and 40ish minutes of iReady lessons.  I totally understand how busy you all are, so please do what you can!  It seems most people were finally able to get on to iReady, so if you still have troubles, please let me know and I will print a badge for your kiddo.
    • Picture day is October 4th.
Thank you for all of your wonderful support at home!🌻

    Dear Families,

This week, we officially begin Homework! There is a reading log and a computer math portion as well. The math portion will consist of accessing iReady Math under your child’s Clever Account.  We have been on the accounts here, but I have sent home a log in card and directions to keep at home to ensure that your student can access their online math homework.

Homework will come home on the first day of the week and is due the last day of the week. The kids and I have talked about this, and how this is their responsibility. Hopefully this format helps to plan for the week!

Thank you for having amazing kids and entrusting us with their learning. I truly appreciate your time, energy, and support!
