Mrs. Petrini

I am so thrilled to be teaching your children this school year.  I have worked at Rattlesnake School for the last seven years in a variety of different positions.  I started as a substitute teacher and then quickly fell into a para-educator position where I worked one on one with a student.  After that I worked as a Behavior Specialist within the school.  I have also had an after-school yoga class which is currently on hold.  I have been teaching first grade at Rattlesnake for the last three and a half years. Prior to that I took a few years off with my formerly small children when we moved to Missoula 9 years ago. I taught in Santa Barbara, CA prior to teaching at Rattlesnake School where I taught K-2 for over 12 years.  I feel fortunate that my path has lead me back into the classroom and am so thankful for all of these different experiences.  I am particularly happy to be teaching first grade as it is my favorite grade and the one where I have the most experience.

I am married, and we have 3 children.  This year I have two children in middle school and a high schooler. This will be my first year teaching without one of my own kids at our school.  As a family we enjoy the outdoors, rafting, exploring, cooking, and card/board games together.  We also have a 3 year old dog who keeps us busy.

I look forward to getting to know you and your child.  Our first week we will work on building community, reviewing school rules and procedures as well as setting expectations in our class for an ideal learning setting.  On Tuesday I will be sending home a few forms needed by myself and the school.  Please complete and return as soon as you are able.

Please come and say a quick hello on Monday night during Back to School Night from 5:30-6:30. Our principal has asked that you come for 10-15 minutes only. Please use this time to find your child’s cubby and place their supplies in there. (All supplies should fit in their labeled lidded plastic shoe boxes and fit on the bottom shelf of their cubbies).  I will have a place in our room for you to put wipes and Kleenex (which we will share) and their composition notebooks.

I am attaching our school supply list. There are some changes from the one that is posted on our school website and what may be printed at our local stores. I will have extra supplies if needed for the first days of school so no worries if you don’t have everything.
