* Monday will be our final session with Tabitha Beard from Spark! Arts. She has been teaching an illustration project called, “Missoula Valley, Our Story.” 

**Looking ahead:  Missoula Children’s Theater (MCT) week is Jan. 30-Feb. 3.

***We will be working on STAR testing for reading and math this week as well as our i-Ready math diagnostic test. 

Writing: Students will continue working on narrative writing this week. Our focus will be establishing characters, the setting, and the problem and solution.

Reading: We will read chapters 4-6 of The Year of Miss Agnes. Our comprehension focus will be on identifying the central message of the story and analyzing how characters affect the sequence of events. We will also be working on compound words, consonant blends, and consonant digraphs, and comparing literal and nonliteral meanings.

Math: This week we will complete our STAR Math and i-Ready diagnostic tests. We will also work on understanding how multiplication and division are connected.

Science and Social Studies: We will continue to learn about animal adaptations this week.

SEL (Social/Emotional Learning): This week we will share examples of students in our class that have shown perseverance this year.
