    Thank you, PTO!

At the January meeting, our awesome PTO approved our grade-level grant to help us purchase more Chromebooks for our Thunderbolts. These Chromebooks will be purchased with both PTO Funds as well as funds from our Third Grade Thunder shirt sales. In addition to our existing number of Chromebooks, we will now have two full class sets that we can use to practice our keyboarding skills, type stories, research, and so much more! We greatly appreciate PTO’s purchasing assistance and everything that they do!

If you would like to get involved, PTO meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm in our school library.

    Hello 3L Parents and Guardians,

Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a nice holiday break.  Here are some things to know about the month of January.

    1. Reading logs will now be due Tuesday each week.  I've noticed an increase in reading logs not getting returned on Mondays. My thought is as a family they are getting done, but Monday mornings are crazy and they are just not getting put back in agendas.  So we problem solve and are flexible!  Holiday reading logs will be due back Tuesday, January 7th.  I encouraged and challenged the kids to read past the 100 minutes during the break.

    2. Please continue practicing with your student on their math multiplication facts.  As many of you know we take weekly timings and it shows who is practicing at home.  Our class is doing amazing!  Having a good grasp of math facts will help your student be more successful on state testing coming up in May.  Multiplication cards that can be printed can be found on my website if needed.

    3.  Star testing for Math and Reading will be the 21st and 23rd of January.  If you have any questions about how your student is doing in Star please reach out.  As you know I try to let the students know their scores shortly after the test.  I feel that it is important for them to understand if they work hard they can see results!

    4. No School January 20th

    5. Starting this month students will start taking practice tests to prepare for Smarter Balance testing in May.  These are short tests that help them become more familiar with test format and wording.  A huge part of taking these tests is to help them be more proficient with working the computer component of the test.  I continue as always to encourage your student to practice typing at home.  Links for typing can be found on my website.

    6.  Book Orders will be out as soon as I get them!  Please help support our classroom library by buying your student books!  Every sale helps!  Book orders due January 27th.  Please see my website if you need to find the online order link.

    7. Midterms January 17th.

Thanks for everything you all do!
