English Language Arts and Math Standards We are Working On

  • English Language Arts

    • Reading Foundations: I will know and apply the grade level phonics of Short/Long Vowels, Consonant Blends, Inflected Endings (-s, -ed, -ing), and Consonant digraphs (ch, th, wh, sh, tch).

Reading Comprehension:  Students will describe how characters in a story respond to major events and challenges, including fables and folktales.

Writing:  Students will write narratives in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.

    Math

Students will use addition and subtraction within 100 to solve one and two-step word problems involving situations.

Students will draw a picture graph and a bar graph (with single-unit scale) to represent a data set from a variety of cultural contexts, including those of Montana American Indians, with up to four categories. Students will solve simple put-together, take-apart, and compare problems using information presented in a bar graph.
