Library will wrap up the remainder of February in the Blue Pod!

In 2nd grade, students have been learning about some treasured book awards like the Caldecott and Theodor Seuss Geisel Awards.  They have also been practicing their keyboarding skills with TypeTastic!  We will wrap up the rotation with a mini unit on Google Docs, where we can publish a poetry piece using our new typing and tech skills.

3rd and 4th graders have learned about a variety of book awards this rotation.  They have also been introduced to the 2021 award winning books.  In addition, they are improving their keyboarding skills.  Read Across America and March Book Madness are next on the list!

5th graders have embarked on a unit centered around the Youth Poet Laureate, Amanda Gorman.  They have been building background knowlege using a variety of sources while practicing their research skills.  They are identifying literary devices used by Amanda Gorman, Shel Silverstein and Dr. Seuss, then discussing how these devices are used effectively by each poet.  This unit will culminate with students attempting to include these literary devices in their own writing (rhyme, repetition, alliteration, metaphor).
