Information Regarding Coronavirus
After deliberation and consideration of public input, our MCPS Board of Trustees voted on May 1, 2020, to keep our schools on our remote learning plan through the remainder of the school year. If you are interested in some of the key issues that informed this decision, I have shared them at the bottom of this letter.
Our school campuses, office buildings, and playgrounds will remain closed until further notice.
We will work with administrators and our educators to finalize our grading information so that we can inform our families. In addition, our response team will start working on an “end-of-year” plan that includes operational topics such as, return of materials, locker/desk cleanout and other tasks we will need to accomplish in a safe manner as we think about wrapping up the end of the year.
For more information, please visit the Coronavirus Information webpage.
How does Curbside Pickup look?
You will pull up to Sherwood Street Bus Loop at Lowell. We will have staff members standing outside to get your students' names. We will try to keep this process moving as quickly as possible. Families should stay in their cars. Materials will be brought out to your vehicle to be placed in the trunk or back of the vehicle. We are trying to respect social distancing and to keep contact to a minimum. If you decide to walk to the pick up, please wear a mask.
If your student has library books or a laptop/chromebook, please bring them during your time spot and we will collect them. We will need to have all borrowed Chromebooks and Laptops back during this time.
We know that many families have more than one student at Lowell. To make this process easy for you we will have you pick up all materials at the youngest students designated spot. Example: If you have a 3rd grader and a 1st grader - you would go to the 1st graders pick up spot for pick up of both students' belongings.

ESSA State Report Cards
The Office of Public Instruction released the 2017-18 school year report cards on Monday, April 22, 2019. The federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires state, district, and school-level data to be displayed on report cards in a concise, understandable, and accessible manner for families and communities. The state, district, and local report cards will be available along with additional information on the OPI’s new report card webpage. This data is already publicly available on the state’s GEMS Data warehouse. It is now being conveyed in an easier format for the public to understand.
