Do second graders have homework?

Yes!  math homework will be sent home Mon.-Thurs.  Students will receive a list of 17 spelling words on Monday.  They should study them during the week to prepare for the Friday test.  Also, students need to read 20 minutes daily to complete their monthly reading logs.

Can parents volunteer? 

Yes...please!!  If you'd like to come weekly or just once in awhile let me know.  You could also take materials home to prep for our class. 

What can I do at home to help my child?

Read with your child, read to your child....just read, read, read!!!  Also, be there to help them with their daily homework if they need it.  Make sure your child eats a healthy diet, gets adequate exercise and plenty of sleep.  I am not a big proponent of the TV or video games.
