Lowell PTA

Lowell PTA is an organization of volunteers working together to enrich the learning experience of our students.  We advocate for the needs of Lowell students and staff and we fundraise to serve both.  Lowell PTA strives to be a liaison between staff and families, and to provide a voice for the Lowell community.

History of Lowell Elementary

Lowell Elementary was built in 1895 to serve children on the North and West side, one of the oldest residential neighborhoods in all of Missoula with a notable history. This area was predominantly developed to house families that worked for the railroad as laborers. Then, other blue collar workers joined the railroaders to live on the North/Westside and to supply the labor for Missoula’s most significant period of economic growth (1880-1920). To this day, the Lowell Elementary community has a strong sense of identity. We continue to be a diverse, hard working people that strive to provide the best life we can for our kids. 

Staff and parents alike feel a sincere sense of dedication to Lowell. This unique school serves over 330 students from Early Kindergarten-5th grade. It is by far the most demographically diverse elementary school in Missoula, and the Lowell community understands the unique challenges our underserved neighborhood faces. School leaders, community partners and the PTA coordinate efforts to ensure that our students and their families are receiving: access to high quality education, early childhood interventions, extended day programming, and family engagement opportunities. It is a remarkable neighborhood hub–the place where our children are celebrated and nurtured; the place where our families engage; the heart of our community.
