Dear MCPS Families,
Welcome back! We are thrilled to begin another school year together and reconnect with our amazing students, families, and community members. There's an energy and excitement that comes with new beginnings, and I can't wait to see what we'll accomplish together this year.
At MCPS, we believe in the power of partnership. When schools, families, and our broader community work hand in hand, incredible things happen for our students. We know that every child deserves an education that helps them discover their potential, pursue their passions, and prepare for a bright future.
As we look ahead to this school year, I'm excited to share some of our key focus areas that will help us continue moving forward together:
Strategic Plan: It's been five years since we last renewed our district's strategic plan, and this year we're undertaking an important update to ensure our goals and vision align with today's needs and opportunities. We'll be refreshing our roadmap while building on the strong foundation we've established, making sure our direction connects seamlessly with our other priorities this year.
Profile of a Graduate: We're continuing to develop and implement our vision for what every MCPS graduate should be prepared to achieve – from being balanced individuals and effective communicators to becoming agile thinkers, skilled collaborators, confident learners, and engaged citizens ready to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
Personalized Competency-Based Learning: We're exploring innovative ways to meet each student where they are and help them progress at their own pace, ensuring every learner can thrive and reach their full potential.
Budget Stewardship: We remain committed to responsible financial management that maximizes resources for student learning while maintaining fiscal responsibility to our community.
Safety First: The well-being of our students and staff continues to be our top priority, and we're constantly working to ensure our schools are safe, welcoming spaces for learning.
Facility Excellence: We're focused on creating and maintaining learning environments that inspire and support our educational mission for years to come.
