Erin Rose Bloom
As a fourth generation Montanan and third generation teacher, it may seem strange that my first career choice was not teaching. I traveled widely as an undergrad and chose to study anthropology and linguistics instead. These were subjects that interested me and the teachers in my life encouraged me to study the things that I was interested in.
It was not until I started substitute teaching during the off season of packing horses or backpacking through the back country for fire, trails, ecology, & wilderness program work that I started to change my mind. It was the meaningful connection to the community, to literature, and to writing that I found within Missoula County Public Schools that led me to return to school to pursue a teaching license and masters' degree while also working and raising a family.
I have had the opportunity to get to know many incredible students, families, and educators and to continue to grow and learn in this profession. Most recently, I am happy to return to M.C.P.S. as a resource room teacher and case manager for students at Sentinel. My favorite part of teaching is when a student has that "aha" moment that transforms their thinking and brings them to a new level of understanding about a previously held belief.
When not at work, I greatly enjoy any time spent above tree line in the mountains or on the water with friends and family. I also love to travel and regularly find myself cheering on our incredible local musicians, athletes, and artists at various events around the state and country.
