My name is Cindy Schultz and I am the Business & Technology Department Chair at Sentinel High School. I have been teaching for over eighteen years. I have a master's degree in Technology in Education and an Administrative License. I am the lead Web Design Instructor and Content Developer for the Montana Digital Academy, and an Adobe Education Leader. I received the Adobe Education Leader Impact Award in May 2014. I am also a certified (Teacher Learning) Hub Course Designer and facilitator for the Montana Office of Public Instruction. Prior to teaching, I worked in the manufacturing, legal and medical fields. I serve on the MCAT (Missoula Community Media Resource) board. Please email me at cschultz@mcpsmt.org if you have any questions.
This year I will be teaching Graphic Design 1, 2 & 3, Design Studio and Film Editing classes. I teach Graphic Design 1 with a focus on Adobe Illustrator. I also teach the following classes that are dual credit course opportunities with the University of Montana:Graphic Design 2 with a focus on Adobe Photoshop (GDSN149 Digital Imaging - 3 cr.)Graphic Design 3 with a focus on Adobe InDesign (MART214 Digital Publishing & Design - 3 cr.)Film Editing (MAR112A Intro to Film Editing - 3 cr.)I teach the basics of design in all of my classes along with several industry standard computer software programs, such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, Premiere Pro and After Effects. Students also take the practice Adobe Certified Associate (ACA) exams as part of their Graphic Design class requirements. All of my classes are taught in an online format using Moodle and Google Classroom, including the dual credit courses. The Design Studio course that gives students the opportunity to serve MCPS and the Missoula Community with print, web and video services. The purpose of this independent study is dual faceted: to offer real-world, hands on training for Sentinel’s best and brightest in design, as well as offer their talents and skills to the community. For more information, check out the Sentinel Design Studio website.I encourage students, parents and the community to contact me with any questions, concerns or contributions they might have regarding the classes that I teach. I am always looking for community members in the fields that I teach to come into my classes and talk with my students and/or create community partnerships. The best way to get a hold of me is through e-mail at cschultz@mcpsmt.org. I can be followed on Twitter: @clschultz.Creativity is no longer an elective - it's the future!
