Media Literacy Teacher (Middle School)
and K-12 Librarian for MOA
This is my 33rd year teaching here in MCPS. After 21 years of teaching band at Washington (as well as Lewis & Clark, Paxson, and Roosevelt school long ago), I changed my focus and moved into the library at Washington Middle School. I love learning, reading, technology, music, skiing, and teaching students (both kids and adults!). I have been on skis since I was a toddler and have been both a ski instructor and alpine ski race coach for most of my life!
Outside of school, my husband and I, along with our fluffy white samoyed puppy, enjoy camping, skiing, overlanding, and being outdoors! Our two sons (now all grown up) live in Missoula and Salt Lake City. Spending time with them is extra special and not often enough!
In MOA this year, I have the pleasure of teaching and learning about Media Literacy with Middle School students as well as serving as the MOA librarian. I love seeking out new information and ways to do things (like understanding Media Literacy and how to overcome the misinformation epidemic) and various technology and teaching tools. Sharing this knowledge and excitement for learning with students and staff is so rewarding!
