Mr. Chris Whiteman

Hello and welcome!

My name is Chris Whiteman, and I am the Assistant Principal here at Meadow Hill Middle School. I am in my first year as an administrator after spending the last 15 years as a music teacher.  I live in Missoula with my two kids and wonderful wife Stephanie.  We enjoy movies, music, and sports (Go Giants!).

I look forward to working with our amazing staff and community to help our students achieve their learning and life goals.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Apparently we skipped Fall this year, so some helpful reminders about winter weather.

Please make sure your student(s) have the appropriate winter clothing.  Students will be outside before school and between their classes and we want to keep everyone healthy and safe.  If you need assistance with getting any winter clothes, please do not hesitate to call Laura Reardon here at Meadow Hill and she will be happy to help out.

Even though snow falls from the sky, we are doing our best to keep it on the ground.  Students are expected to leave snow on the ground, and not engage or participate in throwing snow or putting it where it does not belong.

Warm drinks are always great this time of year, but please refer to the student handbook about what is allowed and what is not allowed.  Drinks must be in a container that can be sealed up, and any paper/plastic coffee cups need to be disposed of before entering the school.

Thanks for helping keep our school and students a safe and inviting place to be educated.

    -Mr. Whiteman

Congratulations on our first "full week" of learning.  Students are highly engaged and great about following safety protocols.  Thank you to our staff for their attention to these as well.  Today's Wisdom is attendance.

Please make sure your student is logging in to their Google Classroom every day AND marking themself "present" on Remote Days.  Remote Days are still "School Days" and students will be marked absent if they do not check in online.  Attendance is important for so many reasons, so please make sure your student is checking in.

It's a good idea to have multiple masks for your student to wear and changeout throughout the day.  Also, do a trial run of your student's mask to ensure that it fits properly and is "comfortable."  The two biggest complaints from students wearing masks are that it gets moist throughout the day and they are uncomfortable because they do not fit properly.  Regardless of our own thoughts about masks, they are an important part of our plan to keep kids and staff members safe.  We will always have masks available at the office for students who need one.

    Happy Tuesday!

Summer Ramp Up is going great!  Students are following social distancing and mask protocols, and are excited to be back at school.  As we gear up for the official beginning of the school year, I wanted to start this blog and offer helpful tips throughout the year called Wisdom from Whiteman.

Wisdom from Whiteman #1 - Be thinking about having extra emergency contacts when you fill our your student's forms this year.  If you/we need someone to come get them for any reason, the person picking them up must be an official contact for them.  I would suggest at least 3 people, other than yourself, to be on the list just in case.

Have a great end of your summer and we look forward to seeing everyone soon!
