Mrs. Melissa Mensch

Hello! I am so excited to be working with the Title I program this year as an Instructional Coach at C.S. Porter and at the District Administration office. My role at Porter is to work with teachers in their classrooms to provide the best learning opportunities possible for all students. I will be working with different groups of teachers periodicallly througout the year, so I will be in a number of classes.

This is my first year in Missoula, and I think it is a beautiful area. I moved here in January 2018 from Northwest Arkansas where I was a classroom teacher for 24 years in a variety of grades and classes. I have experience teaching in grades 7-12. I also have experience teaching English,  journalism, short stories, math and statistics. My teaching background includes co-taught classes, regular classes and AP classes. I have also served in teacher leadership positions for a number of years.

Over the years, I have served as a mentor teacher for new teachers, and this is where I discovered my love for working with adults as well as students. I enjoy helping new teachers gain confidence as they improve their instruction. I feel strongly that we can improve classrooms by implementing teaching strategies that reach all students, and my desire to move into instructional coaching grew from these mentor experiences.

When I am not working, I am continuing to pursue my education through the University of Arkansas. I am currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Educational Statistics and Research Methods. I also love spending time with my family and pets, reading, and exploring the beautiful area around Missoula.
