    Mrs. Flanagan and her Family

My name is Ashley Flanagan, and I am very excited to be your child's teacher!  I have lived in Marietta, Georgia for over 25 years before my family moved to Missoula 2 years ago for my husband's job.  I have three boys: Grayson, Caden and Keller.  This is my second year teaching for Missoula County Public Schools.  Before teaching at JRE I taught at Chief Charlo Elementary and in Georgia for 9 years.  I have a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Kennesaw State University.  My Master's degree is in Instructional Technology from Troy University.

Please do not hesitate to reach out for any of your student's username or passwords.  They should all have stickers in the front of their agendas with this information.  But please let me know if they are missing.  Also, our Freckle code is : 9jakdz and they login with their first name and last initial.

  • Week of 3/23 - 3/27

Posted by Ashley Flanagan on 3/23/2020 3:00:00 PM

    Hi Second Grade Families,

Oh my goodness, Where do we even begin?  Let us start by saying that we hope you all are well.  As we all know, this is a challenging time, for everyone.  We will get through this, one day at a time.  You all have been in our thoughts daily and we miss everyone so much.

This coming week, please use the online resources available on the MCPS website, click here. Everyone should have received an email from the district regarding this.  *If you do not have a laptop/device, please stop by Jeannette Rankin on Monday 3/23 as the office will have devices for families to check out. If you do not have access to internet during the school shutdown, Spectrum is offering free internet service for families - Please call 1-844-488-8398. (This number was confirmed this morning.  It is free internet access for 60 days, with no sign-on requirement after the 60 days.)

We understand that so many parents/guardians are eager to continue moving forward with their students learning. However, at this time we are referring only to the district website and reviewing previous taught material. This is essential in order to remain complaint within our district. Families are welcome to explore their own available resources. Students may also use online resources that were provided by their classroom teacher. This includes resources such as Moby Max, Star 360 to access Accelerated Reader, etc. Please also refer to Jeannette Rankin's Library Page for these and other online resources. Second Grade does have it's own tab within the library resource page. If you need logins for approved programs please email your classroom teacher for that information.

We are available during the school hours to be contacted if you have any questions. Remember we are here for you, so please reach out if there is anything we can do to help.

As things continue to evolve we will be keeping you updated on a weekly basis from our Second Grade Team. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding during this time. Tell your kiddos to read, read, read and read some more and hi from all of us!

    Stay healthy and safe!

Your Jeannette Rankin Second Grade Team

    1. Think about a human-made object that has the same form or function as something in nature. Describe both the human-made and natural objects and explain why their form or functions are the same.
    2. Think about something that you could design to make catching a ball or hanging up your jacket easier. What object in nature could help you with your design?
