  • October 8, 2020 Check-In Regarding Remote Learning

Posted by Brian Bessette on 10/8/2020 4:00:00 PM

Hello, I just wanted to let everyone know that we have put the online assignments in the Google classroom. These are for the days after the students have been in the classroom. The B group will not have it assigned as work until after Friday when they leave. There is not an easy way to separate the two groups in Google classroom as groups A and B.  They are expected to do one math assignment from iReady for each school day they are at home, one Writing Prompt from Google Classroom for each school day they are at home and to read for 30 minutes every day they are out.  I just wanted to clear up any confusion some of you might have. Have a great weekend.

    Thank you,

    Mr. Bessette

I hope everyone is continuing to do well.  The students seem to be working through the online assignments quite well.  It's definitely not ideal but I'm sure proud of them (and you) for continuing to push forward.  Thank you!!

We're being as consistent as possible with the assignments so the students are not having to learn new programs or platforms and can instead focus on the assignments.  We are continuing with Khan Academy for math and they are moving into decimals and their relationship to fractions.  In ELA we are continuing with the novel, Lunch Money.  It's a fun book and it sounds like most of them are enjoying it.

We'll continue with our weekly Zooms on Monday and Friday at 10:00am as well.  In today's Zoom I told them I would be emailing parents about getting the Silverwood reading logs so they can get their tickets.  However, I know that EVERYONE has had a lot more than 10 hours of reading this month.  That said, there is NO need to send me a pic of the log.  I will get all the students signed up for a ticket.  This year it will be emailed to a parent and will be in a parent's name- not the student's.  Please check your inbox for that.  I do not know the timeline but I know I will have the students all entered by the end of the week.  I'm not sure how long it takes to get the ticket emailed from Silverwood though.

Hang in there and let me know if you have any questions!

    Mr. Bessette

Posted by Brian Bessette on 4/16/2020 2:00:00 PM

    Hello Parents-

I hope you are all doing well and are somehow finding some positives during this interesting time.  I know my family has been forced to slow way down which has allowed us to reconnect in some ways. That has been nice.  I hope you have experienced something similar.

This is an update to remind you that our class has weekly Zoom times on Mondays and Fridays at 10:00am.  These are not required but have been fun and helpful. The login information is in Google Classroom. They have been a great way to say hello, point out highlights and to answer questions.

The week of Apr 20-24 we are changing our approach to ELA.  The students are going to read a novel called, Lunch Money.  They will have written responses assigned later in the week through Google Classroom.   Those need to be completed by Friday. They will also have writing prompts for Tuesday and Thursday in Google Classroom.  We will continue with Khan Academy for math and will work on adding and multiplying fractions.

Thank you all for your work and support.  You’ve been amazing through this process. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.  We’re all in this together.

  • Update 3-25-2020

Posted by Brian Bessette on 3/25/2020 10:30:00 AM

Hello Parents and Students of 4BB!  I hope everyone is doing well!  Parents, please ask students to login into their school Google accounts.  They have all done this many times at school so should know their username and password.  The only exception is they may need to add their full email address to their login.  Let them know to add this after their username:  it will look like:

I've created a Google Classroom that I am going to try to use to push out assignments on next week.  They should see an invite from me to join the 4BB Google Classroom.  I believe it will show up in their school's gmail but am not 100% sure how it will look.

These are interesting times for sure but we will get through this together.  Stay safe and please continue to look forward to future updates and interactions.

    Thank you,

    Mr. Bessette
