    Peter Halloran, Principal
Welcome to Smart Schools 2020, a system wide initiative to create school facilities that provide students with the security, technology and dynamic learning environment they need to achieve in school and in life. As your principal, I'm pleased to say that Paxson Elementary School is part of that initiative and is planning significant and much-needed changes over the next few years.
Paxson, an urban school built in 1991, serves over 450 students and our neighborhood student population is steadily increasing.  Originally flexible learning spaces (computer lab and art room) are now functioning as classrooms.  Projections indicate additional classrooms and dynamic spaces are needed to meet the expanding neighborhood.
Our proposed option will provide additional classrooms, as well as transition hallway space providing an open corridor for both large and small flexible workspaces.  Our proposal allows for increased collaboration with small groups and provides engaging spaces for large group activities.
In order to address these key issues, Paxson Elementary School has conducted a thoughtful scoping process and is proposing to expand and reconfigure common learning areas, including the library/media center and music room.
We invite you to learn more about the plan, and get involved in shaping the future of education for our children.  Please feel free to email pjhalloran@mcps.k12.mt.us or call me with questions.

The School Board has approved our preferred option, pending the passage of a facilities levy in 2015! Learn more about our goals and proposal>
