Teacher Bio

  • Polly Huppert has taught music for 28 years in Montana, beginning in Great Falls with 10 years of teaching 5th grade band and assisting at CMR and GFHS as a Woodwind Specialist.  During this time she also had a private woodwind studio of 20 students, who often were participants in All-State and All-Northwest ensembles and have pursued careers in music. 

    Currently in her 9th year of teaching at MCPS, Polly teaches Music Appreciation to middle school students, teaches private lessons and is a member of the Missoula Symphony.  

    Polly has remained an active musician over the years by performing with numerous groups, including the Missoula Symphony, Glacier Orchestra, Billings Symphony, Great Falls Symphony, the Chinook Winds, Better Daze Classic Rock, Montana All-Stars, Northwestern orchestra and numerous Blues and Jazz groups all over Montana.  She has performed in back-up groups for numerous musicians touring through Montana, including Trisha Yearwood, Burt Bacharach, Carol Bayer-Sayer, numerous other jazz, orchestral and blues/rock musicians. 

    Polly firmly believes music is something that enriches the lives of her students in many ways.  Skills gained through participating in music activities are an integral part of a students’ education. 

    Polly also enjoys gardening, hiking with her two dogs Amos and Levi, biking, cooking and reading.
