WELCOME!  To the Lewis and Clark Music page. At L&C we believe that music is a vital part of a young child’s complete education. To facilitate that education children at L&C have a multi-faceted experience during their music lesson.  Our program is based on the philosophy of Orff Schulwerk (see tab), a music pedagogy begun by Carl Orff and Gunild Keetman in the early 1900’s.

In the 2020-2021 School year, many things are different.  Specialists will be pushing into grade level classes on a 3-week rotation.  Music classes will be held in the home classroom for 25 minutes a day. Below is the rotation schedule.

Lewis and Clark Peace Choir Missoula Statement

The L&C Peace Choir is a multi-age, multi-grade activity that gives our students an additional opportunity to make music and perform. Through its inclusive nature it provides a vehicle for students to expand their relationship web within the school.  The repertoire of music empowers children to develop positive relationships, thinking strategies and helps in character building.  It exposes the singers to national and international cultures of song, helping to form global citizens.

The Lewis and Clark Peace Choir was formed in the 2007-08 school year under the direction of Jane McAllister, Dorothy Morrison and Kathy Dungan. This year's directors, Dorothy Morrison, Jane McAllister, Niki Vanek, and Kim Kees.  Sing Language interpreter Ann Hauns.
