In 1980, Big Sky opened its doors as the "new school" in the Missoula Community. I was lucky enough to be one of the original 80+ teachers hired to get the Big Sky Eagles off the ground and flying. It was my first teaching job and I have been here ever since! I truly enjoy my job and love coming to work each and every morning. In my 37 years at Big Sky, I have taught all grade levels of health enhancement, focusing on implementing lifetime activities into the curriculum. During my time here at the school, I coached the women's varsity gymnastics team (1980-1986) and was an assistant track coach for several years. During the school year 2017-18 I will be teaching three health enhancement classes but will also be the Health Science Academy Coordinator. I am excited about the opportunity to help the academy teachers with all the organizational work so they can concentrate on developing integrated lessons.
I grew up in Anaconda, Montana. I was an all- around gymnast in high school and at the University of Montana.
I completed my undergraduate degree at UM in Health and Human Performance (1980) and followed up my Bachelor's degree with a Master's degree in HHP in 1995. In my spare time, I love to spend time outdoors mountain biking, hiking, skiing and sailing. I have been married for 39 years to a great man and have two grown sons.
