Elementary School Library Overview
As your MCPS Elementary School Librarians, we are dedicated to building library collections that spark curiosity, support classroom learning, and reflect the diverse world we live in. Everything we select is chosen for our learners. Our biggest goal? Helping every student fall in love with reading from the very first time they walk through our doors.
The elementary school years are a magical time when children transform from "learning to read" to "reading to learn." Our students range from four to eleven years old, covering a huge span of growth from preschool through fifth grade. Because every child grows at their own pace, we use MCPS Board policies to ensure our shelves are filled with stories that are safe, engaging, and exciting for every age level in our building.
