MEETING 21st CENTURY NEEDS WITH OUR FACILITIES

    Cindy Christensen, Principal

Welcome to Smart Schools 2020, a system wide initiative to create school facilities that provide students with the security, technology and dynamic learning environment they need to achieve in school and in life. As your principal, I'm pleased to say that Russell Elementary School is part of that initiative and is planning significant and much-needed changes over the next few years.

Russell Elementary School, constructed in 1960, added two annexes 14 years later.  With enrollment averaging between 350-370 students and housing school district programs, infrastructure is well past overcapacity.  Security and safety concerns continue with an ineffective building intercom system, technology concerns and disconnected annexes.

Our proposed option to expand Russell School will serve students, families and staff, and will facilitate 21st century teaching and learning.

In order to address these key issues, Russell Elementary School has conducted a thoughtful scoping process and is proposing to expand and reconfigure the north parking lot.

We invite you to learn more about the plan, and get involved in shaping the future of education for our children.  Please feel free to email cchristensen@mcps.k12.mt.us or call me with questions.
