MEETING 21st CENTURY NEEDS WITH OUR FACILITIES

    Pam Wright, Principal

Welcome to Smart Schools 2020, a system wide initiative to create school facilities that provide students with the security, technology and dynamic learning environment they need to achieve in school and in life. As your principal, I'm pleased to say that Rattlesnake Elementary School is part of that initiative and is planning significant and much-needed changes over the next few years.

Rattlesnake Elementary Schools looks to develop its capabilities for collaboration with vertical teams by creating areas in school closer in proximity with one another, developing breakout areas for these pods, and buildings the overall sense that students are "Our Students" not "My Students".

Our proposed option to expand Rattlesnake will serve students, teachers and staff well.  Rattlesnake's current population of 480-plus students - projected to increase of the next 10 years - currently requires modular buildings to meet classroom accreditation standards.  Our proposal will remove the modular; thereby eliminating current safety issues as well as existing disconnects in our students; experience caused by the separate structures.

In order to address these key issues, Rattlesnake Elementary School has conducted a thoughtful scoping process and is proposing to expand to create grade-level pods, remove modular classrooms and reconfigure the library/media center.

We invite you to learn more about the plan, and get involved in shaping the future of education for our children.  Please feel free to email pcwright@mcps.k12.mt.us or call me with questions.
