MEETING 21st CENTURY NEEDS WITH OUR FACILITIES
Lisa Hendrix, Principal
Welcome to Smart Schools 2020, a system wide initiative to create school facilities that provide students with the security, technology and dynamic learning environment they need to achieve in school and in life. As your principal, I'm pleased to say that C.S. Porter Middle School is part of that initiative and is planning significant and much-needed changes over the next few years.
Built in 1967 as an elementary school, Missoula's expansion transformed C.S. Porter Middle School into a middle school serving four elementaries. Overcrowded conditions today and increased enrollment projections create a critical need for learning space in addition to safety concerns at the Reserve Street location.
Our proposed option to expand C.S. Porter Middle School would accommodate our increasing population in a dynamic 21st century learning environment, as well as solve our safety and security issues with a well-designed entry way.
In order to address these key issues, C.S. Porter Middle School has conducted a thoughtful scoping process and is proposing an option that will provide a new music wing, improved safe entrance, upgraded technology infrastructure and updated learning areas to support 21st century learning.
We invite you to learn more about the plan, and get involved in shaping the future of education for our children. Please feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org or call me with questions.
