Biography

  • Hello! I am Mr. Englund, the Band Director at C. S. Porter. Previously, I was the band director at Sleeping Giant Middle School in Livingston, Montana.  I was born and raised in Missoula, where I developed my love and passion for public school music education.

I graduated from the University of Oregon in 2015 with a degree in music education. While at Oregon, I studied trumpet with Brian McWhorter and conducting with Dr. Tim Paul and Dr. Rodney Dorsey. During college, I spent my summers fighting fires in Neihart, Montana.

After college, I moved back to Missoula and spent a year at the University of Montana. I studied conducting with Dr. James Smart and directed the UM Jazz Workshop Big Band.  I also served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Hellgate High School.

In my free time, I enjoy rafting, golfing, skiing, and watching Duck's sports!  During the summers, I work as a raft guide for Zoo Town Surfers. I am excited to work with every single student who enters the band room because, as I have learned, a band can be like a second family.
