Degrees and Certifications:

Ms. Sara Ibis

Hi, I'm Sara Ibis!

I have been teaching for 11 years. I've taught 3rd, 5th and 6th grade in Montana and Minnesota. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Augustana University in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and a Master of Arts degree in Teaching Elementary Education from Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota. I'm also a Certified Montana Master Naturalist.

I'm passionate about project and place-based learning, and I absolutely love teaching STEM concepts. I am particularly interested in the intersection of STEM and civics, and how we inspire our students to be future leaders of our special community.

I am a proud recipient of honors from the National Science Teaching Association, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Missoula Education Foundation.

Outside of school, I volunteer for the Owl Research Institute and I'm an avid birder. I enjoy trail running, eating Thai food, going to Paddleheads and Griz games, and watching horror movies. My partner, Andrew, is a mental health therapist working with military veterans. We have two dogs, Dez and Bill. Dez loves swimming and chasing a green, squeaky tennis ball (she's very picky). Bill loves to cuddle and is a great trail running buddy.

When I grow up, I want to be a marine biologist or a storm chaser.
