A Kind Campus

  • Paxson celebrates and practices Kindness during our 2 weeks of Kindness that starts in early October.  The hope is that our campus becomes a Kind Campus with Acts of Kindness happening every day.  One of the programs we have implemented is called Ben's Bells. "Recent research demonstrates that kindness benefits our physical and mental health, and that recognizing kindness in others increases a person's happiness and satisfaction. But just as solving a calculus problem requires advanced math skills, the challenges of daily life require advanced kindness skills. By focusing on kindness and being intentional in our personal interactions, we can improve our ability to connect. The mission of Ben's Bells is to inspire, educate, and motivate people  to realize the impact of intentional kindness, and to empower individuals to act according to that awareness, thereby strengthening ourselves, our relationships and our communities."

We're doing so much!  We have a student group of Kindness Ambassadors that helps get the Kind word out to their peers.  There are dilemma boxes at school where students can share their ideas or problems and grownups will help get them answered and solutions will be shared as a learning tool for all.  We have assemblies talking about Kindness and a Kindness pledge. Teachers use the Ben's Bells curriculum in their classroom to help practice and teach Kindness.

Want to practice KIND SPEECH? Try asking the following:

    1. Is it true? You always want to make sure what you are about to say is the truth.
    2. Is it beneficial? It is important to only say something if it is going to be helpful.
    3. Is it timely? We need to make sure the things we say are appropriate at that time.
    4. Is it kind? And finally, as we all know, we should only say things if they are kind.

We hope that this inspires individuals and our community to engage in kindness education and kind practices everywhere!  For more information and how to get involved, please email leahgstone@gmail.com or andrealeeds@hotmail.com
